We almost can’t believe that the third Catalyst programme is nearing it’s end! It’s been a journey packed full of insights, new experiences, personal development and incredible people.
To share with OH’s community just how talented this bunch are – we’ve been chatting to them to share their own story.
Here we have the inside scoop on writer of music, arts and culture for Purple Revolver and marketing enthusiast looking to take his first steps into a career that fulfils his creative outlet.
Hey! We might know you, but OH’s community need to get to the gritty on who you are... Tell us a little about the story of you.
I’m 26 years old, I’m very passionate about people, I love hearing stories about people and what makes them who they are. I have a big love, almost fascination, with adverts and marketing, I’m actually quite easily influenced by celebrity endorsements and adverts in general. My dream job is in marketing, I’d love to be able to create and work on campaigns for a company and be able to properly express my creativity in an efficient and beneficial way.
Everybody has their weird and wonderful... What’s something that people don’t usually know about you?
I’m quite spiritual, I meditate daily, I think practising mindfulness is important, I believe in the supernatural and my mum can even give readings and guidance. I love being out in nature and being amongst the trees and the under the sky. I kind of feel a little bit happier at night, I resonate with the night a little bit more.
We’re thrilled to share the Catalyst journey with you! Why did you want to be a part of it?
I consider myself a creative person, it was only about 3 years ago I realised that I wanted to write in some capacity, and really get involved in marketing for a career. I wanted to be a part of Catalyst to meet fellow creative, and like-minded people, and begin my path into my dream job.
We’re inspired each and every week by the Catalyst group. But we want to know, what inspires you?
So many things inspire me, I find inspiration in a variety of places, music is a big one, music can inspire me and motivate me a lot. People also inspire me, reading and hearing stories of people overcoming obstacles and reaching their own dreams, they inspire me to reach for my own dreams. I’m a big wrestling fan, watching WWE inspires me, seeing the larger than life, almost super hero like-characters winning and overcoming their opponents in glory. That’s a huge inspiration for me.
What do you think has been your significant moment of the programme and why was is so out standish to you?
The whole programme has been a highly memorable and valuable experience for me, I’ve met some great people, I feel like I’ve come out of my shell a little bit more which is excellent, I think a significant part of the programme for me personally, was Day 3, The Path You Take. This was eye opening, and made me see that it’s ok to try a bunch of different things and find what is right for you and that not everybody immediately knows what they want to do, that it is possible to sort of ‘fall’ into a career.
Cohort 3 of OH Catalyst has been an absolute ball! How have you felt about the experience and what has benefited you most?
I’ve benefited from the experience in a lot of ways, I know more about myself personally, what I need to work on – which is always important. Along with what it is that I want to do with my life, I wasn’t 100% sure, but now I have a clearer vision of hat I want to do. I’ve also met some awesome people and valuable connections in the creative and digital industry.
And finally! What’s on the horizon?
I’ve applied for a very desirable marketing internship, and I’m continuously looking for other roles in that field, so I’ll be applying for those and putting myself out there, along with working on doing more writing, and trying to create opportunities in that space too. Things are definitely looking up for me and Catalyst is a big part of that process.
